2011-10 Foundation Routine

Everyday Foundation Routine for Oily Skin

I bought a new foundation that I’ve been loving and I had to share my thoughts about the product. A few comments about my skin on youtube lead me to post this demo and review. I decided to film an simplified foundation routine that is practical for everyday without compromising the look of my skin.

This is not a flawless skin routine. I’ve had issues with my skin for 10 years. I’m 23 and my skin gives me a lot less trouble than it use to. This routine is definitely not enough for severe acne, but good for correcting discoloration and minimizing the appearance of blemishes.

Everyday Foundation Routine for Oily Skin

Illusion Tinted Moisturizer Oil Free SPF 15 in beige

  • applied with MAC 190 & SpaResource synthetic concealer brush

This is an oil free liquid foundation that claims to have anti-aging complexes. I’m not one to buy into anti aging claims, so let’s leave it at that.

However, this foundation definitely gives a dewy look without the grease. This is a medium to light coverage product, you can modify the coverage by building up the product or adding a powdered foundation over top.

I have very oily skin that is acne prone, though my breakouts are less severe now. Previously, I used the Vichy Dermablend foundation which is a heavy coverage foundation. By comparison, after a long day of wearing Hourglass’ Illusion, I noticed significantly less oil build up.

Oddly enough, this product is recommended for normal to dry skin because it claims to have a hydrating formula. I don’t feel the hydration, so much as I’ve noticed the finish is light and I can run my fingers over my skin lightly without feeling the product stick to them. I’ve often heard that hydration is one of the main keys to diminishing surplus oil build up, maybe that explains it.

This foundation excludes harmful ingredients, such as:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Synthetic Fragrances
- Synthetic Dyes
- Phthalates

I’ve been using it for over a week now and I’m loving everything about it, except the price tag.

Physicians Formula multi-colored custom face bronzer in warm beige/light bronzer

  • applied with SpaResource Duo Fiber Stippling Brush

I typically love Physicians Formula powders. However, I’ve previously said I disliked this powder foundation because of the lack of color pay off. It’s not that awful if you really swirl your brush in it, that being said, I will never repurchase this.

Hard Candy Pin Up blush

  • applied with MAC SE 129

MAC Paintpot in Painterly

  •  applied with ELF Mineral  Bamboo Blending Eye Brush

Let me know your thoughts,

xx
