Real Techniques Core Collection

I’m so excited! I got the Real Techniques Core Collection from Farleyco. I have been so eager to share these with you because I know a lot of people wonder where to buy Real Technique brushes in Canada.

These brushes are made of synthetic taklon bristles and have extended aluminum handles. These are also 100% cruelty free makeup brushes. The line was designed by makeup artist Samantha Chapman from Pixiwoo on youtube.

If you live in Canada, you know how difficult it is to find these brushes. However, Farleyco announced that Real Technique brushes would be sold at select Walmart locations in Canada for now (in addition to other retailers in the future). If your Walmart does not have these makeup brushes, fear not: Canadian beauty fanatics can buy Real Technique brushes at  Farleyco. See the 3 Real Technique sets available on Farleyco here, single brushes will be available soon as well!

This is one of two sets I will be reviewing on my blog and YouTube channel. Stay tuned!

Real Techniques Your Base Core Collection

Buffing brush

This brush is ideal for full coverage application of powder and mineral foundation. I personally love it for liquid or cream foundation. I’ve used it with both my Marcelle BB cream and Hourglass Illusion Tinted Moisturizer, this brush helps blend my foundation to perfection. Prior to using this buffing brush, I was using the Eco Tools blush brush which has similar bristles, but a different shape.

Contour brush

The contour brush delicately applies highlighter to contour or create sheer, soft-focus finish. It has multiple uses; blush, contour and highlighting with cream or powder products. This was one of my favorite brushes in the kit because it’s so unique to others in my collection.

Pointed foundation brush

The pointed foundation brush is meant to be used with liquid foundation to build custom coverage. Personally, I find impractical for applying foundation all over the face because it’s smaller than usual. The size is perfect for concealing under the eye area, but I do find it a bit too stiff for that purpose. If you have this brush, please let me know in the comments how you like to use it.

Detailer brush

The detailer brush offers a precision cut to effortlessly conceal problem areas; or, use with lipstick for long-lasting shape and definition. I like it for precise application of powder or cream eye shadow. I also think it would be great for applying concealer to blemishes when you don’t want to use your fingers.

The kit also comes with a Panoramic brush case, which is a 2-in-1 case plus stand, a case for travelling and a brush stand.
