How to Wear Emerald Eyeshadow

I’m happy to partake in Fashion Magazine’s second Beauty Panel challenge, which is all about Emerald: the color of the year! This isn’t the only way you can wear the emerald makeup, but generally speaking, I can’t imagine wearing green lipstick, blush or having green hair – each to their own.

You can use emerald as a liner for the upper and/or lower lash line(s) or wear it as an accent color in your eye makeup look. For this week’s challenge, I decided to go all out and use all the green possible!

How to Wear Emerald Eyeshadow

What products I used:

Eyeliner-Mascara-Primer

L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara in Carbon Black – choose a mascara of your choice, preferably either on that lengthens  thickens or does both. Since I am not using dark liner in the tight line or liquid liner to thicken the lash line, it is necessary to use a mascara that makes your lashes substantial enough. I prefer not to “lose” my lashes when I wear bold looks.

Lancôme Khôl In Love 401 Deepwater Blue (find here) – You may choose brown, black, purple.. or whatever suits your preference. You could also opt for a flesh toned liner and darkened lash line instead. I chose blue eye liner because it compliments the green nicely.

Urban Decay Primer Potion (find here)- Definitely use a primer for this look, or any bold look for that matter, because it will make eye shadows appear bright and last longer.

MAC-Arena-Bisque-Concrete-Humid

MAC Concrete, Humid, Bisque & Arena

MAC Bisque – use a matte beige as a wash on the lid and under the brow.
MAC Copperplate use a matte grey as the crease transition color
MAC Humid  – take a frost or satin finish green for the lid and blend it towards the crease
MAC Arena – use the highlight of your choice for the inner corner, I chose a satin peach shadow

Blush Professional 88 palette * I couldn’t find a bolder color in my collection than the shade in the second to last row and 3rd column shade pictured above. I used this green to intensify the lid color and tone down the frost in humid.

Inexpensive eye shadow palettes with a wide variety of color selection, like this one, are perfect for when a new color goes on trend. Trends come and go, so it isn’t necessary to go out and buy the trending color every season.

Urban-Decay-Smoked-Palette-emerald

Urban Decay Smoked palette (find here) – Loaded & Blackout

Loaded and Blackout can be found in several Urban Decay palettes. I used Loaded (the blackened green-teal shade) to add dimension and deepen the crease along with Blackout, which is a matte black. The matte black is not entirely necessary, but I like the darkening effect it gives.

The final look
