Rose Gold Makeup of the Day

Maybe it’s all the talk about the Naked 3 coming out, but I’ve been drawn to rose gold makeup lately. In this look, I’ve incorporated purple eyeshadow and rose gold accents to my makeup of the day. This is a subtle and wearable makeup look that strays from neutrals, but remains appropriate for everyday.

On the eyes, I’m wearing the entire Elizabeth Arden Color Intrigue quad in Velvet Plumtones. My shadow placement was inspired by one of the new Dior Rouge tutorials up on YouTube (I’m obsessed with those videos).

I got this quad at Winners for a steal a few months ago because it’s from a previous collection. Sam from Pixiwoo  did a video using this palette in 2010 where she called it the “Centenary eye shadow quad.”

In any case, the shadows are pigmented without feeling overbearing. They have a gorgeous satin finish. I’m not a fan of the packaging, but the product more than makes up for that.

You could certainly dupe this palette with other purple plum shades, for instance, with this year’s  Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette for Eyes.

I’ve been wearing a few neutral blushes over the past week using the same brush. I think some of the shimmer from my previous blushes are showing up because NARS Douceur is a matte blush (swatches here). It turned out lovely, though.

I love wearing Douceur when I’m avoiding vibrant blush and I want to skip contouring. It has a way of sculpting the face without looking muddy.

There’s something really gratifying about discovering a new lip combo. Lately I’ve found two and they are both with the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey. I either wear it with the Rimmel Apocalips in Celestial or the Elizabeth Arden lipstick in Rose Aurora.

Today, I’m specifically gravitating towards this Rose Aurora lipstick from Elizabeth Arden’s 2012 Rose Aurora Spring collection. It gives regular pink lips an ultra glam metallic look.

Honey tends to change from a nude to a brighter pink the longer you wear it, or at least it does for me. I’m not sure if it’s because of oxidation, does anyone know? To diverge from this issue, I often wear another lip product over it.

Comparable lip products: check out the Milani lipstick in Pink Frost, it’s doesn’t have warm shimmer but it gives a similar effect.

What are your current favorite lip combinations?
