NEW Maybelline Color Tattoo Swatches

We all know and love the Maybelline Color Tattoos and they are commonly referred to as dupes of the MAC Paint Pots. Maybelline recently launched their Leather Collection in drugstores across Canada and I managed to all five the Color Tattoos in this collection. This will not be a review so match as a swatch and walk-through post.

I have been anxiously awaiting for Maybelline to release another collection with neutral color tattoos. They released a Spring 2014 Dare To Go Nude Collection, where only four of six colors available in Canada.

Worst of all; the color tattoos from the Maybelline Gilded in Gold Collection for the holidays were not made available in Canada. Just thinking about those beautiful matte shades in Nude Pink, Just Beige and Matte Brown … ugh! Why weren’t those made permanent and available everywhere! C’mon now, Maybelline, those are must-have basics!

Enough ranting! I posted a live swatch video about the Leather Collection Color Tattoos on youtube in English and Spanish. Below you will find swatches of all five shades.

Dramatic Black, Chocolate Suede, Deep Forest, Vintage Plum, and Creamy Beige | Maybelline Color Tattoo Swatches – Leather Collection

Naturally, I had to get all of these because the colors are truly gorgeous and wearable! The only two that disappointed me a bit were Vintage Plum and Deep Forest because they took a couple more passes to get the swatches to look just right.

Chocolate Suede reminds me of a cooler version of MAC Constructivist. I don’t have any perfect dupes in my collection. I suspect that Vintage Plum may be similar to MAC’s Paint Pot in Stormy Pink, at most.

Dramatic Black is perfection! It’s like they melted a NYX Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean into a jar, between you and I, we all know which formula is less likely to crease with a primer.

Another favourite of mine is Creamy Beige because it makes a nice base for tanned skintones, but it also wears nicely on it’s own. It seems to be a cream, but it almost has a satin finish, somehow. Refer to the swatches above; the difference is apparent when you compare the finish to Vintage Plum or Deep Forest.

Did you pick up any of the NEW Maybelline Color Tattoos? What are your thoughts on these?

xx
