Normally I do Monday Manicure posts, but I’ve decided to do a three in one post with the Quo by ORLY Summer 2014 collection.
Due to the nature of these shades, these nail polishes were difficult to photograph while depicting the true color. Neon shades have a tendency of throwing off the color balance of cameras.
Quo by ORLY Summer 2014 Collection
Introducing the Quo by ORLY limited-edition summer collection, the shades are called:
- Summer Fling
Product claims: fast drying, long lasting, high gloss, and free of DBP, formaldehyde and toluene.
Heatwave is an electric orange with gold glitter particles running through it. This shade looks slightly brighter and more vibrant in person than it appears in the photo above. I’m wearing three thin coats and a top coat.
Simmered is a lovely purple shade that borders on magenta-neon and it is also a cream finish with gold glitter particles running through it. This nail polish appears slightly more vibrant in the bottle than it does on the nails. I’m wearing three thin coats and a top coat.
Finally, Electrified is a neon cream shade that is somewhere between yellow and orange. I felt it was the more unique shade of the three. It gives opaque coverage with three coats, but be careful, the formula is thicker than the former and more difficult to work with!
The brush applicator is flattened and has a rounded edge, making it easy to polish the nail in two to three smooth strokes. It appears that the fibers have been cut a bit unevenly, but I didn’t experience any application issues with that. Dry time was quick; by the time I finished polishing my second hand the first was almost dry. Electrified took longer to dry because of its thicker formula.
Overall, I love the colors in this collection and I’ve enjoyed wearing them over the passed few weeks (especially for pedicure). It seems to be very similar to the Orly Baked for Summer nail polishes, so I would cross reference before purchasing from both collections.
These nail polishes retail for $10 each (currently on sale for less) and are available for a limited-time only, exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart.
What do you think of these shade? Would you wear neon nail polish for summer?
