Back in February, I picked up these Yves Saint Laurent Volupte lipsticks in three of their finishes including Rouge Volupte, Volupte Sheer and Volupte Shine. Yes, that’s three Voluptés, meaning voluptuousness!
So, I was expecting these things to be heaven on either because in lipstick terms, they cost an arm and a leg. Luckily, the set I got them in was quite the deal at $75. that’s still $25 a pop.

YSL Rouge Volupte Nude Beige 01
What it is: An extremely smooth and creamy lipstick with a formula that transforms into a fluid veil of radiant color when it touches the lips.
What it does: Drenches the lips with densely pigmented color and a unique color-shine complex, lips are visibly smoothed, plumped, and radiant with luminous satin color.
What else you need to know: It’s made with a long-lasting and highly comfortable formula that contains SPF 15.
My thoughts: Nude Beige 01 is not my go to shade and it looks a tad chalky on me because of my complexion. Otherwise, it’s pretty smooth and gives a satin like appearance to the lips.
YSL Volupte Sheer Candy Succulent Pomegranate 04
What it is: A glossy lip balm.
What it does: Dresses your lips in a sheer veil of brilliant color boosted with vitamin- and antioxidant-rich fruit extract. Its ultralight, sensual texture leaves lips feeling soft and hydrated for up to eight hours and is ideal for year-round use.
My thoughts: I wear Succulent Pomegranate 04 the most out of the three because it’s the easiest to wear and apply without a mirror. However, I must say it is the most underwhelming of the bunch. It’s not very moisturising or long-lasting. If you like to re-apply ordinary sheer shades out of glamorous packaging for $39, be my guest.
YSL Volupte Shine Coral Incandescent 12
What it is: An innovative and comforting lipstick enhanced with fruit extracts rich in vitamins and antioxidants that leave lips visibly softer and smoother with up to eight hours of hydration.
What it does: Dazzling color, extreme comfort, and luminous shine. The luscious, hydrating texture glides on your lips leaving a lightweight aqua shine effect, while Back Injection Technology offers extreme comfort and pleasure upon application. It is formulated to protect lips from free radicals and seal in moisture for up to eight hours of hydration.
What else you need to know: Antioxidants in natural extracts of pomegranate and rosemary reduce the look of fine lines, while candellila resin forms a thin, protective layer to help lock in moisture and magnify color and shine. Mineral pigments provide bright, vibrant color and a melting formula (instead of a solid stick) enabling smoother glide-on application and an ultrafine lightweight film on lips. Hyaluronic acid spheres hydrate and soften lips to help seal in moisture for up to eight hours of hydration.
My thoughts: Coral Incandescent 12 is a pigmented lipstick that is light wearing on the lips. The coral shade is high up there in my summer favourites because it instantly lifts my complexion from drab to fab. The formula is a bit slippery, meaning it easily slips out of the lipline, or I’m just sloppy.
