CoverGirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation & Concealer Review

Today, I’m testing out the CoverGirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation and Concealer. I’ve been wearing these for a few weeks since I received them in a Beauty United care package. I normally don’t think much about drugstore foundations because they don’t typically wear well on me. However, this foundation line is specifically catered to my skin type: oily skin!

Product claims:

The new CoverGirl Ready, Set Gorgeous collection is an oil-free foundation with a built-in powder system that fights against shine, pulling oil and sweat away from your face, instead of trapping them under your foundation.

For extra coverage of imperfections and dark circles, the new CoverGirl Ready, Set Gorgeous Concealer is a lightweight, oil-free and shine-free formula that won’t clog pores.

TIP: To cover raised blemishes, use a small amount of concealer and gently pat with fingers onto the targeted area. Then, waiting no more than 20 seconds after application, use a concealer brush with synthetic bristles to softly brush the formula outwards, so the edges blend seamlessly into the skin. (I need to try this!)

Before foundation and concealer

I received a press sample of the foundation in 115 Buff Beige, when in reality, I could make do with a shade or two darker. When I want to get away with 115 Buff Beige on my tanned skin, I either pack on bronzer on the outer extremities of my face or mix this foundation with the CoverGirl TruBlend Liquid Makeup in Caramel Beige M5 .

So far, I’m blown away by the foundation for its matte finish, long wear and light weight texture. It actually loses its matte-ness through wear and becomes more natural looking once my natural oils begin showing through. It doesn’t separate or look blotchy after hours of wear and it actually feels light on the skin.

I love the sleek and hygienic packaging of the foundation and wish I could say the same about the concealer. I do actually like the concealer, but I broke the twist cap of the dough foot applicator. This often happens to me with concealers that have twist top applicators. I wish CoverGirl had used packaging similar to The De-Puffer Eye Concealer instead (I will be testing that out soon).

The Ready Set Gorgeous concealer is light weight and does a great job at lightening the under eye area in a subtle fashion without settling into my fine lines. I have the one in Medium, which is actually pretty light. If you want to conceal blemishes with this concealer and you have a similar complexion to mine, then I would consider going a shade darker. Otherwise, you can always layer the foundation or another concealer to conceal problem areas.

Below, I’ve embedded my review and demo video for the Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation & Concealer.

Have you spotted this foundation or tried it out? What’s your favorite drugstore foundation for your skin type?
