MAC Studio Nail Lacquers Swatches

MAC Studio Nail Lacquers is the newly formulated and now permanent line of nail polishes. The nail polish comes packaged in a a cylinder glass tube and has a sleek design with a rubberised cap, which is easy to grip. The brush applicator allows for easy, opaque nail polish application with two swipes.

I cannot compare this new nail lacquer to MAC’s previous formula, because I’ve never tried it before. However, I’m very impressed at the ease of application and the wear of the nail polish.

I noticed tip wear after 2-3 days, probably due to the fact that I type a lot at home and at work alike. It may also have something to do with my top coat, but in reality, all polishes wear at the tip for me after a couple of days.

I didn’t notice any chipping with 3 days of wear, but I’ll admit that I have been changing my nail polish rather often these days in an attempt to test everything!

MAC Studio Nail Lacquers Sour Cherry

Sour Cherry is described as a dark berry red (cream finish). It definitely reads more like a light red cherry shade. If you are familiar with dark cherries, then you should know exactly what I mean.

MAC Studio Nail Lacquers Shirelle

Shirelle is described as a classic bright red (cream finish). It’s the sort of red you can pull off any time of year because it’s classic and it leans neither too cool or too warm.

MAC Studio Nail Lacquers Skin

Skin is a light peach beige (cream finish). It was easily my favourite out of the bunch, simply because it’s unique to my collection of nudes. I often wear dusty or mauve nudes, but I had yet to try a peachy nude until now. It goes on beautifully with just two coats and wears nicely with nail art over top – see what I did here.

Lastly, MAC partnered with former forensic scientist Marian Newman to create a collection of transforming topcoats. One of the shades in that collection is a sheer blue pearl finish transformer called Highlight.

In the swatch above, I am wearing the blue pearl transformer over NARS Back Room which is a flat black nail polish (swatched here). This transformer turned the flat black nail polish into an iridescent midnight blue with only one coat! Stunning isn’t it?

What do you think of the new MAC Studio Nail Lacquers? What colour would you like to try out?
