Summer Drugstore Makeup Look

I’ve been dabbling with affordable cosmetics and decided to brew-up a summer makeup look using all drugstore products. Summer finally hit Montreal with a crazy heat wave. Well, not crazy, but we just got out of fall-like weather overnight.

I’m into nudes and pastels, opting for liner as opposed to eye shadows for pops of colour around the eyes. Wing eyeliner is one of my go-to and of course, we can’t forget dramatic highlights with the NYX Strobe of Genius palette.

I’ll stop the ramble and let you check out the play-by-play in the video below.

Starting with moisturiser, I used one for hydration from Marcelle and the other for an added glow by Pixi Beauty. Then, I used two foundations to match my complexion, both have a matte finish.

When I’m going for a highlighted look, I sometimes opt for a matte foundation because I want a glowy look and not an oil-slicked, disco ball look. I like toset my makeup with the NYX Makeup Setting Spray at the end.

I used a translucent powder from elf cosmetics, because this is a must for oily skin chicks. I sculpted my cheeks with the cult favourite Sunny Bronzer by NYC and went for a glowy blush and topped that with a highlight.

For eyes, I went for liner as opposed to eyeshadow. Rimmel cosmetics does great waterproof eyeliner, including a couple pastels and a nude. I used the Joe Fresh Matte Liquid Eyeliner for a dramatic wing and called it a day.

Lastly, my favourite addition to my makeup collection, NYX Liquid Suede in Sandstorm! I thought this colour would wash me out, but I was surprised to find that it gave me an unusual nude pout.
