Belle-Lingerie UK Bra Haul & Review

This is an accompanying post for the recent Bra Haul I posted on my YouTube channel. I ordered Freya and Pour Moi? bras from Belle-Linerie, a UK based online lingerie store. I was initially worried about doing a UK Bra Haul, but the service was great, delivery was quick and only cost me £6.95 for shipping.

Unfortunately, all the bras I picked were the wrong size for me. Hopefully this sorts out anyone with confusion around UK bra size conversion to UK cup sizing.

Since being fitted, (watch my bra fitting video here), I’ve been looking for supportive and affordable bras with a small band and big cups. For reference purposes, I’m full on top and high set. I’m able to wear bras such as:

  • 32F in Fitfully Yours (Canadian brand)
  • 30G in European brands (such as Simon Perele)
  • 32G in Wacoal (and b.tempt’d)
  • 30F in Empreinte
  • 32E UK / 32F US in Triumph (one particular model only)

On the conversion charts, it shows that a 32F US would be a 32E UK. Likewise, a 30G US should be a 30F UK. That’s simply not the case. I’ve noticed huge descrepencies in US to UK sizing charts. It makes it very hard to shop online unless you are somewhat familiar with a particular brand’s sizing. To add insult to injury, brands aren’t even consistent within their own ranges.

Belle-Lingerie UK Bra Haul

Freya Active Sonic U/W Moulded Sports Bra – 4892 Cherry Glow Size 30F £20.00

I’m not sure if Freya bands run big, but the Freya Active Sonic didn’t feel too snug for a 30″ band. This sports bra boasts a j-hook to covert to a racer back, has a thin moulded cup with lined support wings inside the cups and sturdy but comfortable underwires.

I ran into trouble with the 30F. The scoop and swoop resulted in boob quading. The gore was pressing on my breast tissue. I prefer a sports bra to be tight and because of that I suspect a 30FF or 30G would fit me best.

Freya Deco Charm Moulded Plunge Bra – 1471 Chartreuse 30F £9.90

The Deco Charm is less stiff than the classic Deco. It has a j-hook in the back. The cups are covered with a satin like chartreuse material and carries a black lace detailing along the bust and along the band in front of the bra only. It has thick and ribbed black straps. I love this colorway, because due to the black lace, it would match with any black nylon/satin bottom.

I suspect a 30G in this model would fit perfectly. With the 30F UK, I had overflow on the top of the cups and on the sides, just under my arm pits. That’s right, the dreaded boob-pit fat.

Pour Moi? St Tropez Strapless Bra Black – 7715 Strapless Bra Size 30F £18.70

The St Tropez strapless has low-cut cups, which allow for ample cleavage unlike full-cup strapless counter parts. It also came with convertible straps. However, the bra is much more shallow than the previous two models I received in the same size. Furthermore, it has a very tight 30″ band.

The band was nearly impossible for me to fasten on the loosest hook and the cups has insane overflowing. I would probably need to size up to a 32FF to make this work. There is the possibility that it simply would not work due to  the shallowness of the cups.

What really sucks about Montreal is that there are not many places you can find British brands in DD+ sizes. Debra Lingerie has some Freya and Panache, but they do that whole in-store personal fitting experience along with it. I’ve been fitted once and I want a more solo-shopping experience. Does that make any sense? Just give me the sizes I want to try and let me do my thing. #introvertedAF

Looking back, I should have ordered a couple of bras in different sizes. I received the bras on November 28th and returned them via mail on December 5th. It cost me $20 CAD to send them back. I’m just waiting for the refund and I’ll continue on my search for the perfect bra wardrobe.

Have you tried doing a UK Bra Haul, or rather, shopping UK lingerie brands? What was your experience?

xx
